Jesus Is God the creator of the world Vs Eesa (Jesus) of Islam

1. Islamic Jesus was created and not eternal
The similitude of Jesus before Allah is that of Adam: he created him from dust, then said to him, "Be": and he was. Koran: Sura 3:59
vs.
Biblical Jesus who is eternal

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, [though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah, [yet] out of thee shall he come forth unto me [that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth [have been] from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58
2. Islamic Jesus is a created human

He created him (Jesus) from dust, then said to him: "Be". Koran: Sura 3.59
vs.
Biblical Jesus is the Creator of everything that is

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:16-17.

3. Islamic Jesus is not the Lamb of God who was slain

That they said (in boast), ‘We killed Christ Jesus the son of May, the Messenger of Allah.’ But they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of surety they killed him not: Koran: Surah 4.157
vs.
Biblical Jesus is the Lamb of God

Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Gospel of John 1:29

4. Islamic Jesus which will not return until Judgment Day

And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): Therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: This is a Straight Way. Koran: Surah 43:61
vs.
Biblical Jesus appeared to the Apostle Paul (Saul) after Christ’s ascension (Saul’s Conversion)
And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: Acts 9:5

5. Islamic Jesus sent Mohammed (not the Holy Spirit)

And (remember) when ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: ‘O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming the Tawraat [(Torah) which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.’ But when he (Ahmad, i.e. Muhammad) came to them with clear proofs, they said: ‘This is plain magic’. [al-Saff 61:6]
vs.
Biblical Jesus sent the Holy Spirit (Comforter) which came at Pentecost 50 days later NOT five hundred years later (Mohammed)

But the Comforter which is the Holy Ghost John 14:26

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 15:26

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. Acts 1:5

6. Islam which says Salvation is found only in the Five Pillars of Islam

Salvation can only be found in the Five Pillars of Shahada (Testifying of God’s Oneness), Salat (Prayer), Saum (Fasting), Zakat (Charity), and Hajj (Pilgrimage). (KORAN: Surah Al-Maa’idah 5:116)
vs.
Biblical Jesus: Salvation is found in none other than himself

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
and

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31

7. Islamlic Jesus which is an involuntary Slave to Allah
I will then say what the Pious Slave Jesus the son of Mary said...(Hadith: Narrated by Ibn Abbas 5.117-118). Jesus..although he is jus one of Allah’s slaves. (Hadith: Narrated Nafi, 007.063.209). You’d better got to Jesus, Allah’s slave (Hadith: Narrated Anas, 009.093.532, Volume 9, Book 93, Number 507.)
vs.
Biblical Jesus made himself a voluntary servant

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2: 6-8

8. Islamic Jesus was never crucified and therefore was not resurrected

And because of their saying (in boast), ‘We killed Messiah ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah,’ — but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but it appeared so to them the resemblance of ‘Eesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man)], and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)]: But Allah raised him [‘Eesa (Jesus)] up (with his body and soul) unto Himself (and he is in the heavens). And Allah is Ever All Powerful, All Wise [al-Nisaa’ 4:157-158]
vs.
Biblical Jesus which (by his death and resurrection) saved his people from their sins

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: John 11;25

And if Christ be not risen, then [is] our preaching vain, and your faith [is] also vain.

I Corinthians 15:14

9. Islamic Jesus is not the God in the flesh as the Messiah

Surely, they have disbelieved who say: Allah is the Messiah [‘Eesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)’ [al-Maa’idah 5:72]

Surely, disbelievers are those who said: ‘Allah is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no AIlah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One AIlah (God —Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall on the disbelievers among them. [al-Maa’idah 5:73]

AND

Islamic Jesus is NOT the Son of God (whoever believes this will be thrown into the fire)

Then the sects differed [i.e. the Christians about ‘Eesa (Jesus)], so woe unto the disbelievers [those who gave false witness by saying that ‘Eesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah] from the Meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire) [KORAN: Maryam 19:34-38]

That they ascribe a son (or offspring or children) to the Most Gracious (Allah). But it is not suitable for (the Majesty of) the Most Gracious (Allah) that He should beget a son (or offspring or children). There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Most Gracious (Allah) as a slave [Maryam 19:88-93]

Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. KORAN: Surah 4.171
vs.
Biblical Jesus who is the Word Made Flesh and dwelt among us and is the Son of God

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1;14

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

10. Islamic Jesus can not be worshipped

And behold, Allah will say--O Jesus Son of Mary, did you say to men, worship me and my mother as gods beside Allah? He will reply--Glory to you, I could never say what I had not right [to say] KORAN Surah al-Maa’idah 5:116

Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger: many were the messengers that passed away before him.. KORAN: Sura 5:75
vs.
Biblical Jesus who is commanded be worshipped (by both men and angels)
And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:11

And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. Hebrews 1:6

11. Islamic Jesus not fit to be intercessor

They will go to Jesus who will say, ‘I am not fit for this undertaking, but you’d better go to Muhammad whose sins of the past and future had been forgiven (by allah)’ Hadith Volume 9, Book 93, Number 507.
vs.
Biblical Jesus is the ONLY mediator between God and Man

(Jesus is alone the sinless Lamb of God. How could a Mohammed a sinner be more fit than Jesus)

For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; I Timothy 2:5

Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25

12. Islamic Jesus will judge by the Law of the Quran and not by the Gospel (Fateh-ul Bari page 304 and 305 vol 7)
vs.
Biblical Jesus will judge by both the Old and New Testament (Gospel)
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law (Torah), till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:18

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48

In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. Romans 2:16

13. Islamic Jesus is simply another prophet

Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: KORAN Surah 2.136, 2.84
vs.
Biblical Jesus who is the name above all names

Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: Ephesians 1:21
14. Islamic Jesus Returns in yellow garments

Jesus (peace be upon him). He will descent (to the earth). When you see him, recognize him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, (Sunan Abu Dawud Book 37, Number 4310)
vs.
Biblical Jesus returns in arrayed in white light

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire. Daniel 7:9

The following verses describe Christ’s Transfiguration, but is virtually identical to his portrayal as Ancient of Days and therefore his Second Coming:

And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. Matthew 17:2

And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. Mark 9:3

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment [was] white [and] glistering. Luke 9:29

15. Islamic Jesus lands near a Minaret in Damascus, Syria

Most Muslims believe that Jesus descent from heaven will be accomplished by resting his hands on the wings of two angels. He will descend onto the white minaret, situated in the eastern part of Damascus. He will invite the whole world to be Muslim including Christians and Jews. (Mawdudi, A.A, Finality of Prophethood, pp. 58-61), and (Vol 18, Hadith No. 814)

Hadrat Hudaifa b. Yama relates (with reference to Dajjal),

When the Muslims will fall in lines to offer prayers, Christ son of Mary (PBUH) shall descend from heaven before their eyes. He will lead the prayers. When the prayers are over he will say to the people: "Clear the way between me and this enemy of God." God will give victory to the Muslims over the hosts of Dajjal. The Muslims will inflict dire punishment upon the enemy. Even the trees and stones will cry out, "O Abdullah, O Abdul Rahman, O Muslim, come, here is a Jew behind me, kill him." In this way God will cause the Jews to be annihilated and Muslims shall be the victors. They will break the Cross, slaughter the swine and abolish Jizya (levied on non-Muslims). (Mustadrak Hakim - A brief version of this tradition has been recorded in Muslim. Hafiz Ibn Hajar in Fath-ul-Bari Vol. VI, p. 450 declares this tradition to be authentic.)
vs.
Biblical Jesus descends and lands on the Mount of Olives near Jerusalem

And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, Zechariah 14:4

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:11

16. Islamic Jesus returns on the wings of two angels
(Mawdudi, A.A, Finality of Prophethood, pp. 58-61).
vs
Biblical Jesus is accompanied by the armies of heaven and the saints and all of his holy ones with him
and the Lord God shall, and all the saints with thee Zechariah 14:5

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses... Revelation 19:14

17. Islamic Jesus destroys Antichrist with his lance at Mount Afiq (near City of Fiq, Syria)
Christ (PBUH) will advance with the Muslims for fighting against Dajjal (Antichrist). The enemy will retreat before the powerful assault of Christ son of Mary, and Dajjal will run away towards Israel by way of the slope of Afiq (Reference to Tradition No. 21). Christ (PBUH) will pursue Dajjal and destroy him on the airfield of Lydda (Traditions No. 10-14- 15). A great slaughter of the Jews will ensue and every one of them will be annihilated. The nation of Jews will be exterminated (Traditions No. 9-15-21). At the proclamation of truth by Christ, the Christian religion will become extinct (Traditions No. 1-2-4-6).
vs.
Biblical Jesus destroys Antichrist with his breath at his return to the Mount of Olives
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 2 Thessalonians 2:8

18. Islamic Jesus which returns will not be pierced
They killed him not nor crucified him, (Koran: Surah 4.157)
vs.
Biblical Jesus who was pierced for our transgressions

They shall look upon me whom they have pierced...Zechariah 12:10

19. Islamic Jesus will marry and woman and have children

He (Jesus) will live for forty years during which he will marry, have children, and perform Hajj (pilgrimage). (Wali ad-Din, Miskat Al-Masabih, (tr. James Robson), Vol.II, p.1159; Sahih Muslim, Vol.1, p.92).
vs.
Biblical Jesus who will marry his Bride Christ (the Christian Church) at the Wedding Supper of the Lamb

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come and his wife hath made herself ready. Revelation. 19:7

20. Islamic Jesus will die forty years after his return

He (Jesus) will perish all religions except Islam. He (Jesus) will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. (Sunan Abu Dawud Book 37, Number 4310). After his death, he will be buried beside the grave of the Prophet Muhammad (Wali ad-Din, Miskat Al-Masabih, (tr. James Robson), Vol.II, p.1159; Sahih Muslim, Vol.1, p.92).
vs
Biblical Jesus is alive forevermore
But because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Hebrews 7:24

I [am] he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Revelation 1:18

There you have it. Here are two different versions of Jesus Christ. One Islamic and one which is Biblical. Clearly Islamic the Scriptures of the Koran, Hadiths, and Traditions and the Bible are not describing the same Jesus. So the question remains does this make any difference? Well clearly it does. Jesus Christ himself said that many false Christs would come in my name claiming he is the Christ and DECEIVE many. (Matthew 24:24 and Mark 13:22). The Apostle Paul is so severe in his warning that in Galations he records that if any man preach a different Gospel (another Jesus) which he is is NO gospel at all, let him be eternally damned. (Gal 1:6-9) The Apostle John says that whoever denies Christ (as God’s son) is an antichrist. God is not an author of confusion. No the Islamic Jesus is an imaginery Jesus. The Biblical Jesus is the true Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Any other Jesus is the Prince of Darkness. So, I invite you to choose today! whom you will follow. If the Islamic Jesus is the true Christ, worship him and him only. If the Biblical Jesus is the Christ, worship him and him only. For you can not serve two masters! AMEN! AMEN

Jesus is mentioned in scripture as our Forerunner ( Serious discussion for Christians)

Jesus is mentioned in scripture as our Forerunner...what does it mean...?
in Scripture ? Now i know that hundreds of years ago the captain of every ship knew the dangers of the sea! The greatest danger was coming into port or a harbor that he did not know. If he came into a harbor in a storm, in a fog, or with the wind blowing strongly, he needed to know where the rocks were,... show more in Scripture ?

Now i know that hundreds of years ago the captain of every ship knew the dangers of the sea! The greatest danger was coming into port or a harbor that he did not know. If he came into a harbor in a storm, in a fog, or with the wind blowing strongly, he needed to know where the rocks were, where th shoals and the reef's were hidden. And so the captain of the ship would summon the forerunner...
Every ship had a forerunner. A forerunner was a man who was an expert swimmer. He would tie a very light rope around his waist. They knew the harbor was up ahead but didn't know where to anchor the boat into the water, swim through the water and find out where the reefs and the rocks and the dangerous spots were. When he found the right spot to anchor the boat, he would tug on the line.
The with all of his strength, he would pull the anchor over to the spot and fasten it. The captain was sure that the boat would never be smashed on the rocks because the anchor that held the boat was secure.

How does this picture pro tray Christ? All thoughts welcome.

Best Answer:  This is a great question, I really like you example of a forerunner, I didn't know that about ships, I haven't heard of that before. But it is a fitting example because Jesus is the forerunner in so many ways. A forerunner is one that goes ahead, and it also indicates that others will follow, and not only that others will follow but that the way is made clear, and safe, so others will be successful following the forerunner.

Here is some scripture that shows Jesus Christ as the forerunner:

Hebrews 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

God was willing more abundantly ( I love this, more abundantly, the Lord showed us with so much more than what was necessary, an overflowing truth that we could know without a doubt Who He is, and what He said, and that we can have this rock solid faith in Him ) to show unto us, the heirs of promise ( all that are in Christ Jesus ) the immutability ( unchangeable, not capable of change, ) of His counsel confirmed it by an oath:

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

That by two immutable ( unchangeable ) things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong consolation, ( if we know that God never changes, but is the same always, and we know that it is impossible for God to lie, then we now have such a strong consolation, such comfort and such a rock solid foundation for us to believe, because if we know that He doesn't change, and it's impossible for God to lie, then we also know that what ever God says He will absolutely do, without fail. ) who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us; ( it is us as believers, as heirs to the promise, that have fled for refuge. Fled shows that we ran or turned away from the danger, sin and the things of the world, and even Hell; And for refuge shows that we seek shelter, protection a safe place from all of those things. " To lay hold upon the hope set before us " Praise God, to lay hold upon, shows something that is so real, so clearly seen that we can take hold or grab onto it. "The hope that is set before us", what is the riches of this hope? It is Christ Jesus that is our hope, and it is Him that we have our hope in, we have such precious promises in Him, we hope because we have heard the precious promises and know that God will do it, but our eyes haven't seen them come to pass as of yet, we are desiring a city not built by man, but one the Lord built, where the Lord is, and where we will also be; And we hope because we have not seen with our eyes, because what we see it is no longer hope, because we don't hope for what we have, but we know what God said is true so we patiently wait for it.

Colossians 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Romans 8: 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

" Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; " This hope that we have in the Lord is like an anchor for our soul, it is both sure ( certain, trustworthy, safe from harm ) and steadfast. ( Immovable, firmly fixed in place ) Hope is so vital to us as believers, and it is by this hope that we have in Christ Jesus that we enter into that inside the veil, this hope is how we draw closer to God.

Hebrews 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

" Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. " We see Jesus as the forerunner in this verse, He entered into that inside the the veil for us, He is the only One Who could have done this for us, and if He didn't prepare the way for us, ( He is the way , John 14:6 ) we couldn't enter into that inside of the veil, which is into the presence of God, into the throne of His mercy and grace, into the city of the Living God.

" That within the veil " refers to the Tabernacle in the Old Testament, it was a tent that was a sanctuary where the Lord would dwell among them, and where they would carry out their services to God, like prayers, offerings, and sacrifices.

Exodus 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
9 According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

We see how the Lord spoke to Moses and instructed Moses to make it according to all that Lord had shown him. This is important because Moses seen the Heavenly things that these were to be patterned from, the things that was on earth, the Tabernacle was a shadow, or a reflection of the true Tabernacle in Heaven, and so was all of the ordinances and all things that was made for the Tabernacle an example, a shadow, a reflection of the Heavenly ones. If you think about how the Tabernacle was a tent, it was movable, and wasn't always in the same place, this showed that it wasn't the final one, if not the final one then there would be another one to come, it was just in place until the promise of Jesus Christ was fulfilled, which He did make the way for us to enter into the true sanctuary, the Holiest of all.

The Tabernacle was a tent, and inside of it was the table, candlestick, showbread and all things that they needed to carry out their daily service to the Lord, it was called the sanctuary, and inside of it was another one, that had a veil around it, it was called the Holiest of all. Inside of the Holiest of all was the Ark of the Covenant, which had the golden pot with manna inside, Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the Covenant; And sitting on the Ark of God was the mercyseat, which was made of pure gold, and had two cherubims ( angels ) which were made of gold, and their wings covered the mercy seat and their faces looked at one another and toward the mercyseat. ( Exodus 25 )
It was here that the Lord would meet with them and commune with them.

Exodus 25:22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

The daily services, prayer, burning incense, offerings, and sacrifices were carried out daily in the first tabernacle, but into the holiest of all, ( that within the veil ) the high priest went in only once a year to offer sacrifice for his sin and for the sins of the people. This signified that the way into the Holiest of all was not yet made manifested while the first tabernacle was standing.

Hebrews 9:6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

It was Jesus Christ our High Priest, that offered Himself, the Lamb of God without blemish, to take away our sins, and to purge our conscience of dead works so that we can serve the Living God. And He entered into the Holiest of all for us, not the one in the earthly tabernacle but into Heaven itself and in the presence of God.

Hebrews 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Source(s): Hebrews 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 9: 24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

So it is through Jesus Christ and what He has done for us that we can enter into the Holiest of all, and into the presence of God. I would like to share another one of my favorite verses, I hope all will prayerfully consider it, thanks for reading and thanks again for asking this.

Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

Praise God! I thank God that we can enter into the Holiest of all through the blood of Jesus.

with much love and sincerity in Christ,
andrew

  • Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger. Zeph. 2:3.

There is no sadder spectacle than that of those who have been purchased by the blood of Christ . . . turning to jest the messages graciously sent to them in the gospel, denying the divinity of Christ, and trusting to their own finite reasoning, and to arguments that have no foundation. When tested with affliction, when brought face to face with death, all these fallacies they have cherished will be melted away like frost before the sun.

The Christian's hope is an anchor to the soul, both sure and steadfast, and entereth into that which is within the veil, whither Christ the forerunner is for us entered. We have an individual work to do to prepare for the great events that are before us.
    Source(s): What Made Him Great?
Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Matt. 11:11.

What was it that made John the Baptist great? He closed his mind to the mass of tradition presented by the teachers of the Jewish nation, and opened it to the wisdom which comes from above.

John the Baptist was not fitted for his high calling as the forerunner of Christ by association with the great men of the nation in the schools of Jerusalem. He went out into the wilderness, where the customs and doctrines of men could not mold his mind, and where he could hold unobstructed communion with God.

  • Ok, so I didn't read your whole essay following your question, cause I just don't have that kind of attention span, but I'd imagine he'd never be the underdog in anything.

But you know, people root for the underdog all the time.

  • Wow. That picture of the forerunner going ahead of the ship truly is a wonderful one for us to keep in our hearts. How our Lord loves us sister. I also say a resounding AMEN to our brother Andrew's portion concerning this matter. Like him, I too never knew of the forerunner and of ships in this way at all. I just praise the Lord that all these rich examples can be used to show us something of Who He is to us in our daily lives.

The Book of Hebrews touches on this matter of Jesus, being OUR Forerunner.
    Chapter 6:20 shares.
" Where the Forerunner, Jesus, has entered for us, having become forever a High Priest according to the order of Melchisedec.

As the Forerunner, the Lord Jesus took the lead to pass through the stormy sea and enter the heavenly haven to be the High Priest for us according to the order of Melchisedec. As such a Forerunner, He is the Author of our salvation. As the Forerunner, He cut the way to glory, and as the Author, He entered into Glory!

    Heb 2:10
For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in leading many sons into glory, to make the Author of their salvation pefect through sufferings.

The Lord loves us so much. As His many brothers, the many sons we are now those who have such a hope.
He is the Forerunner, the one who is our Captain, Originator, Inaugurator, Leader, Pioneer.

The way that we had to take as sinners, was one of sin and death. But this One, the Lord Jesus, became sin for us. He shed His precious blood and it is in this Blood that we have boldness to enter in before God at the throne of Grace.

The Lord ran each and every one of our courses. As a Man on the earth, He was touched with all the feelings of our weaknesses, tempted in every way that we were and the god of this world, satan, found NOTHING in Him. He was tried, tested and came out victiorious. Not only did He overcome the world, but also the ruler of the world, satan. This Lord as the Forerunner, went ahead of us, He braced the stormy sea for us and because He has overcome all things and marked the way for us in His Blood, we too can be those who follow Him day by day, where our steps are ordered by Him, so that in the end, we will declare like our brother Paul,

" I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith" ( 2 Tim 4:7)

It is no small things that the Lord is our Forerunner and that He has accomplished this title as a Man. Today, He lives in us, as our very life and supply, so that as those coming behind Him, we would have a clear way through. Like that Vessel maneuvering through the stormy sea, we can rest in the accomplishments of our ForeRunner Jesus. I love that in this verse in Hebrews it did not say that our ForeRunner is Christ the Lord but that its Jesus.. This name Jesus speaks strongly of the Lord in His humanity. As a precious Man on the earth, the Lord braced it all for us, He took the beating for us, He took the risks for us and in us each day, He seeks those who will LOOK away from all things and UNTO Him, because He has already gone this way, He KNOWS the way and wants us to follow closely behind Him, so that He can lead us to the end of our course. Its not that we will not suffer.. we will, but with the suffering comes the Ministering Grace of our High Priest in the Heavens. We call upon His name as we run daily and He knows JUST HOW to minister His life to us to meet the need in us at that particular time.

    Heb 4:15-16
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all respects like us, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come forward with boldness to the Throne of Grace, that we may receive mercy adn find grace for timely help"

Oh how I just love the Lord. Sister..how much He cares for us. I just want to share this in closing and hope that the kind of encouragment it gave to me, is the kind that it will give to you and all the dear saints here on the forum... and even to those who may have a seeking heart.

Our Lord is our Forerunner who has gone ahead of us and completed what we need to run today as believers.
He is also our Shepherd who walks right in front of us. Bidding us to walk in His steps
This dear One is also the Overseer and Bishop of our souls who sees things from a panormaic view.
And best of all..He is the Life Giving Spirit who dwells within us as our supply and our intuition and inner speaking to follow Him day by day, step by step.

How fully furnished we are as saints. It is no wonder that the Lord can make sure that the saints can declare verses as this..

    2 Tim 1:12
For which cause also I suffer these things, but I am not ashamed, FOR I KNOW whom I have believed and I am PERSUADED that He is able to guard my deposit unto that day"

Each of our races are taylored and made for us by the Lord. Yet He has taken the time to Forerun each one because He knows that in Him, we can do all things. From beginning to end, He is with us.

    Lord we love You!

Grace be with you dear sister.
Thank you for the fellowship and for an opportunity to share and enjoy all that we have in our Lord Jesus.

    Your sis

  • This is a deep question, and I believe a Bible study that unveils Christ and His glory and grace is worthwhile and enriching to us all. Praise the Lord for our brethren's sharings, including Bro Andrew's and Sis Sandy's portions - rich in portraying Jesus Christ as our Forerunner and High Priest.

Thank you Sis Karen for your insightful sharing about the forerunner of a ship too - it shows the importance as well as the dangers of being a forerunner. Our Lord Jesus Christ became a forerunner for us, by going before us and bearing the various hardships, trials and dangers along the journey, to make a new and living way for us to enter God's presence, at the expense of His own life, all because He so loves us with an everlasting love. :)

I like the phrase "the anchor that held the boat was secure" because Christ is our anchor. Yes, He is not just the forerunner who swam among the dangerous rocks and against the strong waves to fasten the anchor onto secure ground. He is also the anchor who holds the boat secure, by becoming the sacrifice for all our sins and sicknesses on the cross.

"This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil" Heb 6:19

Heb 6:19 tells us that Jesus is the hope, who is the anchor of our soul - as surely as Jesus is Faithful and True, our hope to receive His blessings of the righteous, is sure and steadfast. And Jesus is the forerunner who enters God's presence behind the veil, as our High Priest.

"where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek" Heb 6:20

In the Old Testament, only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies in the Jerusalem temple once a year on the day of atonement, after offering the blood of bulls and goats. But in the New Covenant, Jesus has entered the true Holy of Holies - heaven itself - with His own blood. (Heb 9:12; Heb 9:24)

This happened after Jesus died and rose again, and ascended to the Father in heaven as our High Priest, offering His own blood to put away our sins once for all. "For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins... But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God" (Heb 10:4-12)

The act of Jesus' sitting down at the Father's right hand shows that all our sins have been purged. His work of redemption is finished. :) We cannot add to Jesus' finished work; so we simply rest in what Christ has done - by believing all our sins have been forgiven and we have been made righteous before God in Christ. (Heb 1:3; 2 Cor 5:21) :)

"then he adds, 'Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more" Heb 10:17

"Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh..." Heb 10:19-20

When Jesus died at the cross, God tore the veil in the temple from top to bottom, showing that God has now made a new and living way for us to come boldly into His presence. In the Old Testament, people would die if they approach God's holy presence without proper sacrifices because they were sinful. But in the New Covenant, we will not die but live because our sins has been cleansed, so we can stand before God freely and boldly, solely based on Jesus' perfect offering for us that justifies us. :) And yes, the veil of the temple symbolises Jesus' body that was broken at the cross, so that our bodies will be made whole, as we partake of the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Him. :)

"and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water" Heb 10:21-22

God wants us to come into His presence with a true heart sprinkled from an evil conscience. That means, we are to be free from sin-consciousness. "For the worshippers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins." (Heb 10:2) In the Old Testament, the children of Israel were reminded of their sins at least once a year in those animal sacrifices on the day of atonement. But in the New Covenant, since Jesus' sacrifice has purified us once for all, we would not have any more consciousness of sins. In other words, God will not remind us of our sins anymore. So we need not have to confess our sins in order to be forgiven or to be accepted by Him or to continue in fellowship with Him. We simply come boldly before His throne in thanksgiving, conscious that we are forgiven and made righteous and holy by the blood of Jesus. We no longer have a sense of shame, guilt, condemnation or inferiority, because Jesus' blood has washed us whiter than snow. (Ps 51:7; Rom 8:1) :)

In the New Covenant, God's throne is not the throne of judgment - it is the Throne of Grace. (Heb 4:16) We can come boldly to Him, without fear of punishment or condemnation. We can freely receive His grace and mercy to help in time of need. :) Indeed, the Bible says, "the righteous are bold as a lion." (Prov 28:1) "Blessings are on the head of the righteous." (Prov 10:6) "Having been made righteous by faith in Christ, we have peace with God". (Rom 5:1) "We are blessed with believing Abraham" because we are heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ. (Rom 8:17, Gal 3:9)

It's all because of Jesus and His finished work at the cross. Worthy is the Lamb, who is the captain of our salvation. (Heb 2:10) He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Col 1:18) He is a leader and commander for the people. (Isa 55:4) In the garden of Eden after Adam's fall, no one could enter to access the tree of life because the cherubim guarded the way with a flaming sword that turn in every way. (Gen 3:24) But Jesus became a forerunner for us, and at the cross, the sword of God's justice and righteousness went through Him - and Jesus' sacrifice has so satisfied God's judgment that today, the way to the Tree of Life is open for us. (Zech 13:7) Let us come freely into God's presence to partake from the Tree of Life - who is Jesus Christ Himself. (Rev 22:2) For Jesus has come to give us life, and that we may have life more abundantly. (John 10:10) :)

Thanks again for the question. I am blessed, and I hope our brethren are blessed too. Shalom, sister Karen. :)

Many are Called but Few are Chosen

Do you understand what the Bible verse, "many are called but few are chosen" means? There are a number of Bible verses where Jesus tells us that only few will be saved and enter the Kingdom of God. The problem is, the majority of the Christian world chooses to ignore these verses, and just carry on in their worldly lives thinking they are saved because they said a prayer to Jesus at one time, or because they belong to a church that "know" the truth, and "knowing" the truth they think will save them, rather than a daily loving relationship with the Lord Jesus. Friend, this message that Jesus is getting across is vital! We MUST heed the warning and change our lives and give our ALL for the Lord Jesus. So let's look at these verses about many being called but few are chosen.
Matthew 20:16 ...'So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.'
Matthew 22:14 ...'For many are called, but few are chosen.'
So Jesus confirms this twice, that many are called but only few are chosen. Now some Christians will say that this is in comparison to the whole of the world population, but this isn't so. Jesus is talking to the church, and the professing Christian world. He is talking to those who believe in Him, the called ones, and out of those called ones, only few are chosen. In other words, only few are saved and will enter into Heaven. Why? Because only few in comparison to the whole of the professing Christian world actually gave their all for Jesus. The rest believe in Him, but they wanted to hold on to their lives on this earth, and are not worthy to enter into God's Kingdom, as Jesus said ... John 12:25 ...'He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.' ... You see, only those who are ready and willing to give up this life for the Lord will gain eternal life.
Matthew 22:11-14 ...'And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called but few are chosen.' ... Have a real good think about these verses. Jesus is telling the parable of the marriage between Him and His church. Now above we see a man is found that is not welcome, why? Because he has not been clothed in the white garment he needs, he is still in his sinful state, he did not give his all for Jesus and cannot enter the kingdom of heaven, and being stood in front of Jesus the man realizes he is still in his sin, and is therefore cast into hell fire. Now this is the important bit - What is that man doing there in the first place? HE THOUGHT HE WAS INVITED! This man was one of the called ones, he was a professing Christian and thought he was saved and went to the wedding thinking that way. But he was rejected because he did not live according to the true faith. He kept living a worldly life and did not separate himself from the world and give his all for Jesus. Which meant he was not "clothed" with the righteousness of Christ.
Matthew 7:13-14 ...'Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.' ... Again Jesus is saying here that only few will find the narrow way. The majority of the Christian world are going down the broad EASY way, but they don't realize it leads to destruction. Take a look at the church in the Bible, and you will find a sacrificial church that gives it's all for Jesus. Then take a look at the professing church in the world today, and you will see a church in COMFORT, saying the right words, but not living the true faith, and what did Jesus say? ... Matthew 15:8 ...'This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.'
Luke 13:24 ...'Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.' ... Notice that Jesus says many will SEEK to enter in, but will not be able to. These are the called ones, those who profess to follow Jesus, but their lives show that actually they don't. So many think they can just believe in Jesus and then sit back and do nothing. But look what it says in Luke above, 'STRIVE' to enter in at the strait gate.
So many professing Christians believe they are going to Heaven, when actually they are going into hell fire. Why? Because they don't study the Word of God daily and find the truth about being a true follower of Christ. Stop holding on to the things of this world. Why do we hold on to something that will be destroyed when Jesus returns? Let it go and give your all to Jesus now!
I plead with you to give your all to Christ Jesus today. Remember, many are called, but few are chosen. So give your all to the Lord now.

That Impassable Barrier God Protects

By Gene Lawley
While our God has made every effort to introduce Himself to mankind in understandable terms, even to providing justification and redemption for Man, there is one area of the relationship that He has not relinquished to man’s level and can never do so. Man is never allowed to intervene, in his flesh, in any of those spiritual exercises and activities that are of God. He allows no taint of the flesh, that fallen nature of Adam, to have a part in His plans:
“Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight…” (Romans 3:20a).
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him [God]” (Hebrews 11:6a).
“…for whatever is not from faith is sin” (Romans 14:23b).
One of the most historic incidents affecting our modern world, perhaps the most and not one of several, is the one recorded in Matthew 16 when Jesus, coming out of a discussion with His disciples, told them to “beware of the leaven—the doctrine—of the Pharisees and Sadducees,” a doctrine of works of the flesh.
The next scenario builds on that topic when He asks them who people say He is, and they respond with several identities that have arisen. He then asks, “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). Peter answers for all of them, saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
To this Jesus responded, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.” That realization and recognition can only come from God. That no human effort can bring that about is what Jesus was saying. He then makes that historic statement that on the rock of that identity He would establish His church. It would be His church, and He would be its head.
Oh yes, I know He said, “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church….” But the original Greek would use two different words in place of “Peter” and “rock,” like this: “You are Petros [Peter] and on this petra [Rock] I will build my church.” And I will add this Scripture for further clarification: “For they [the Israelites] drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:4b).
So the Roman Catholic Church claimed Peter to be their first pope and built their church on a petros, or Peter, a small stone foundation instead of the Rock, petra, a cliff, and their spiritual journey has been downhill ever since. The humanistic doctrines they have embraced and invented over the centuries starkly deny that clear separation Christ made between God’s revelation and man’s efforts in His response to Peter that day.
Following that incident, Jesus sharply corrected Peter in a strange, but revealing way, as shown in this incident:
“Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.
“From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, ‘Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!’
But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men’” (Matthew 16:20-23).
That was shortly after the identity situation and continues the extreme emphasis Jesus puts upon God’s strong intent that no man-made theories or ideas will be allowed to counteract His own plans and purposes. Notice how Jesus identified the source of Peter’s exclamation, and that it was from unredeemed man’s viewpoint. One can see how that plays out over and over in our Christian experiences.
It seems to have corresponded with that choice of foundation for the Roman church and its history of opposition to the Jews for killing Jesus. Even the invention of the theology of replacing Israel with the church in God’s promises to Abraham and his descendants springs out of that humanistic foundation. Peter’s response to the Lord’s foretelling of God’s plan for Him clearly shows that the Spirit of God did not direct Peter in his rejection of God’s plan.
In that Matthew 16 passage Jesus said He would build His church and the gates of Hades would not prevail against it. (As others have, the first time I read that, years ago, in my mind’s eye I saw huge gates coming over the hill at me!) It looks like the Lord was expecting warfare ahead. And so He was, as we see in Ephesians 6:10-13:
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Now, there’s that “flesh and blood” issue being turned away from things that are exceptionally spiritual. As the Lord told Jehoshaphat of old (2 Chronicles 20:15), saying: “Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s,” we are not to fight spiritual battles in our human strength, even when facing human enemies having evil intent. We must fight the battles in God’s strength. Then Paul lists the whole armor of God that is our protection against those spiritual attacks:
·      The belt of truth.
·      The breastplate of righteousness.
·      Footwear that is ready to deliver the gospel.
·      The shield of faith, most importantly.
·      The helmet of salvation [which is assurance].
·      The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
·      Praying always in unity with the Spirit, being watchful and alert.
A strong witness that spiritual battles are to be put in the hands of the Lord, Himself, is that of Michael, the archangel, when contending with the devil over the body of Moses, did not charge him directly, but said, “The Lord rebuke you” (Jude 1:9).
The Apostle draws a clear and definite separation between the flesh and the Spirit when he makes this declaration in Galatians 2:20-21 (International Standard Version for greater clarity):
“I no longer live, but the Messiah lives in me, and the life that I am now living in this body I live by the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not misapply God’s grace, for if righteousness comes about by doing what the Law requires then the Messiah died for nothing.”
The fact that the statement is in the first person pronoun provides more meaning for any believer to claim as his or her own position, as it certainly is so.
Almost like an echo to the abrupt correction that Jesus gave Peter in Matthew 16 (i.e. “Get behind Me, Satan!”) are the words in Isaiah 55:8, “’My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord.” So the question is, how do we think God’s thoughts after Him? We have this information from Jesus regarding the coming of the Holy Spirit after He, Jesus, returned to heaven:
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13).
The ability for believers to discern the truth of God is made clear in 2 Corinthians 2:9-16:
“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him’ (Isaiah 64:4).
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For ‘who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.”
With that hidden weapon, the Spirit of God dwelling within us, we believers have a responsibility to rightly divide the Word of God, putting truths in their rightful place and in balance with the whole counsel of God, His total plan for the ages. It takes the comparing of scripture with scripture that no one-sided doctrines or theories are the result, and man’s “flesh and blood” input takes over.
Paul has clarified for us that one front-running, paramount issue when he wrote to the Corinthians, “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (2 Corinthians 2:2).
The gospel, the Good News, is not a message from flesh and blood but from the God of the Bible through Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. And we hold this treasure in earthen vessels.
